How can I use a flexible spending account to pay my employee?

Most flexible spending accounts require that you submit the payroll records to show that you have been paying your nanny for childcare services. Once the records you submit have been approved, you will usually be reimbursed for some portion of the costs. However, sometimes these paystubs can be rejected if they do not show what services were performed. Some plans require that a note is displayed on each paystub detailing what services were performed and the name of the child the services were provided for. This article will cover where to find your nanny's paystubs and how to adjust what services were performed.

How to view and download paystubs

Steps:

  1. Click on the Filing Cabinet tab.
  2. Click on Payroll.
  3. Set the dropdown box to the year you want to view payroll records for.
  4. Now you are able to view/download a PDF of any payroll record you desire.

Note: You are able to see what services were performed on the paystub. This will be listed as Services Provided towards the top of the paystub

How to edit a paystub to show what services were performed

Steps:

  1. Click on the Settings tab.
  2. Click on Employee Info.
  3. Click the Edit button next to General Info.
  4. Set the Service Performed box to Other.
  5. Now you are able to enter what services were performed (ex: childcare services performed for my child's name).
  6. When you have made your desired changes, click the submit button.

Note: Making this change will reflect on every paystub. This includes paystubs in the past.
